As, every year there are more and more of you looking for accommodation, your housing application has become a decisive factor.

If you prepare it with care, you will succeed in your research which meets your expectations. So, what documents must you attach to your application? What supporting documents must you provide as proof?

Here’s the information you need to provide in order to be proposed accommodation tailored to your situation.

You’re a student and you receive financial support from a third party (parents, family, close friends, etc.) to help pay your studies (enrolment fee, accommodation, commuting, etc.).

The documents to provide are:

Identity

  • Valid national identity card, passport or residence permit
  • Bank account details from requestor

Proof of schooling

  • If current year: student certificate, student card or proof of schooling
  • If for the next academic year: qualification exam results, letter of admission, proof of enrolment

Resources

  • Income tax statement if you are fiscally attached to your parents, a certificate of attachment to their fiscal household, or a certificate of non-taxation.

If financial support:

  • Declaration of support from the parents: financial support paid which includes rent, schooling fees, food, leisure activities, etc. To estimate it, you can visit: https://www.letudiant.fr/cout-des-etudes.html
  • Valid national identity card, passport or residence permit of the person(s) paying the financial support.
  • 1 photocopy of the last income tax statement of the person(s) paying the financial support.
  • Last 3 pay slips of the person(s) paying the financial support.

If financial support originates abroad:

  • Bank certificate of standing order for parent(s) living abroad.

Other resources:

  • Student loan or savings certificate.

Current accommodation

If accommodated free-of-charge:

  • A certificate of lodging specifying the address and the date from which you have been accommodated. Proof of identity and proof of the host’s place of residence (rent receipt or bill).

If you’re a tenant:

  • Document certifying that you are up to date in the payment of your current rents (last 3 rent receipts, certificates from the landlord).

Security deposit (housing deposit)

Apply for the VISA State-recognized rental surety online

(If you are not eligible for the Visale State-recognized rental surety, you may use a third-party guarantor)

You’re a student and you receive a social criteria- or merit-based scholarship (grant) from a regional body or from your embassy to help pay your studies (enrolment fee, accommodation, commuting, etc.).

The documents to provide are:

Identity

  • Valid national identity card, passport or residence permit
  •  Bank account details from requestor

Proof of schooling

  • If current year: student certificate, student card or proof of schooling
  • If for the next academic year: qualification exam results, letter of admission, proof of enrolment

Resources

  • Income tax statement if you are fiscally attached to your parents, a certificate of attachment to their fiscal household, or a certificate of non-taxation.

Current accommodation

If accommodated free-of-charge:

If you’re a tenant:

  • Document certifying that you are up to date in the payment of your current rents (last 3 rent receipts, certificates from the landlord).

You’re preparing a PhD or you have a post-doc contract, an ATER (temporary research fellow), research fellow, lecturer or researcher contract.

Status

  • Employment contract, PhD contract for the current year
  • EUACOM certificate, qualification exam results, letter of admission, proof of enrolment for next year

Resources

  • Income tax statement if you are fiscally attached to your parents, a certificate of attachment to their fiscal household, or a certificate of non-taxation.
  • Research grant, last 3 pay slips.

Current accommodation

If accommodated free-of-charge:

  • A certificate of lodging specifying the address and the date from which you have been accommodated. Proof of identity and proof of the host’s place of residence (rent receipt or bill).

If you’re a tenant:

  • Document certifying that you are up to date in the payment of your current rents (last 3 rent receipts, certificates from the landlord).

  • Employment contract or certificate from your employer or promise-to-hire letter.
